I love the Heidelberg Catechism, it is so Christ centered. A good understanding of law and gospel is necessary to understand the full impact of our sinful condition and how great and glorious is the Lord Jesus Christ and the mercy and forgiveness offered to us. And as Christians, we are driven to trust in Christ even more.
